James J. Guerra, MD, FACS, is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He graduated with honors from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago and completed an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Guerra went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute, training with renowned sports medicine orthopedic surgeon Dr. James R. Andrews, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Guerra is head team physician for the Firecats Arena Football, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and St.John Neuman High School as well as medical director for the NCH Sports Medicine Program. He is a consulting team physician for the Baltimore Orioles (MLB) and previously the assistant team physician for the Florida Panthers (NHL).

A member of several professional societies including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Academy of Surgeons. Dr. Guerra also serves as an instructor in arthroscopic surgery for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored 31 publications and has lectured at national and international meetings.
